Can't stop listening to this. Too good.

I can't stop listening to this record. Off the new split ep with chewing on tinfoil and Jim Lockey, two of my most favourite bands at the minute. Go buy the 7 inch.

Have a listen.

Re-design for record label.

My SKILLZ IN FOTOSHOPZZZ

I worked on this image for a job application, they wanted to see my retouching skillz. If anyone requires a full photoshop facelift for a dating website service for example then don't hesitate to send me an email!

I have reworked her teeth, skin, hair and eyes. There are plenty of photoshop tutorials on the internet to help with this. Drop me an email if you want to know how I did it.

My first attempt at 3D.

p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 13.0px 0.0px; font: 13.0px Arial} span.s1 {letter-spacing: 0.0px}

I have recently started using Cinema 4D to explore the possibilities of 3D motion graphics. This program is amazing, and to any budding graphic designer I would highly recommend getting to grips with this software and taking your work to the next dimension. Cinema 4D is highly complex, but after an hour or so it becomes relatively simple to operate. The tools are easy to understand and with some basic trial and error even a complete beginner can create a 3D masterpiece, with lighting and a variety of textured surfaces.

Here is a Poke-ball that I created using some online help, mainly tutorials off youtube. There are many resources available online to help with the basics of the program. I assume the Poke-ball is good for beginners as it has reflective surfaces and a simple 3D shape to allow the user to understand the basic commands and functions. It took me around 30 minutes to create this.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated. I'll be learning the program more extensively and posting my progress on here.

Great Artist

I have been working extensively within the confines of paint recently. I have been looking at a variety of Contempory Artists and analysing their work. I came across Ian Francis, who immediately caught my attention, his painting style is very bold and unique. The style of his paintings can be noticed straight away. He uses photographic elements, and combines images on photoshop as a basis for his large scale paintings. In many cases he paints directly over photographs, his paintings combine large elements of abstraction and accute amounts of detail.

I found this very interesting interview with Ian Francis, it concerns his newest works, and the ideas behind them.

"Describe your process of creating a new piece?

I spend a lot of time watching TV/films, reading books and looking around the internet... I save loads of photos I find interesting from all kinds of different places. I then flick through them, and try to think about how ideas link together, and mock up roughs in photoshop. I like combining different elements of photos of people with abstract sections of old paintings I've done. Once I've got an idea of what I want to do, I try and figure out how to paint it... sometimes the final piece looks a lot like the rough, sometimes it changes drastically while I'm painting it. When I'm painting, I just switch back and forth between paint, drawing, collage or anything lying around.

How would you describe your style?

I normally describe what I do as mixed media painting... the idea is to get different kinds of marks to work off of each other - so sometimes I'll paint/draw fairly accurately, then work quite loosely on a section, then break up elements of print on another section. At the moment I think a lot of the painting I do is too tight, it should really be looser and more expressive"

i-phone parody- Clever Advertising

This is the new advert from the Sun newspaper, and it is a great parody of the well known i-phone series of adverts. I think this represents a current trend in very clever advertising.

Newspapers are old and unimaginative in their format, I iwould assume the industry has a hard time promoting them in a modern world of blackberrys and online mobile devices for current news affairs. Therefore the Sun newspaper has used the ultra modern i-phone as a basis for their commercial, they have explained everything about a newspaper that is handy and easy to use. I love the idea of this advert, and the fact that news can be presented in an old fashioned, cheap and effective way. The advert plays on all the advantages of an i-phone and compares the similarities to a newspaper, and the advert does not try to hide the fact that it is a complete replicar of the iphone advert.

Modern advertising has to capture the imagination of the viewer in the first few seconds, this advert uses a popular concept so therefore already has people watching. This is a great example of how a simple advertising concept can have a great impact.
